COMPLETED the signing of Estudiantes defender Juan Foyth.

After spending a number of years in the Estudiantes Youth Academy, Foyth made his Primera Division debut on 19 March 2017 aged 19 years and 2 months.

The 19-year-old has joined the North London club from top-flight Argentinian outfit Estudiantes.

Foyth, an Argentina junior global, has signed a long-term contract until June 2022.

Foyth, who represented the national side at the Under-20 World Cup earlier this year, rejected moves to Roma and Zenit in favour of joining Spurs - according to Calcio Mercato.

It has been confirmed that the Celta Vigo midfielder has joined Olympique Lyonnais for a reported initial £9.3million fee, with further financial add-ons should they be met.

Mauricio Pochettino will be delighted to add another defender to the squad this season as Spurs have only managed to keep one clean sheet in their opening three Premier League matches.

Foyth, an under-20 Argentina global, was linked with both Tottenham and Paris-Saint Germain in July and at one stage it seemed like Mauricio Pochettino would miss out on the centre back.

"He told me to go, train and, if I deserved it, that I would play".

The Argentine is Tottenham's third signing after securing the signatures of center-back Davinson Sanchez from Ajax and goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga from Southampton.

"I really like this club".

Before making the move Foyth commented that he was enticed by Tottenham being "a club that bets on the young" and so gives him a "chance to play".
