Yangon- Police in western Myanmar say they have fired warning shots after a Buddhist mob tried to block humanitarian aid headed to an area where ethnic Rohingya Muslims were driven from their homes.

Rohingyas are being denied citizenship in the Buddhist-majority Myanmar and regarded as illegal immigrants, despite claiming roots that date back centuries.

The home minister said India would not be violating any worldwide law if it deports Rohingyas as it is not a signatory to the UN Refugees Convention 1951.

The social network is a key tool in the information war taking place over violence in Myanmar's Rakhine state, which has driven more than 420,000 Rohingya Muslims from the country and sparked United Nations accusations of military-led "ethnic cleansing".

Rohingya Muslims in India hope the Supreme Court would decide in their favor. The court will hear the issue on October 3. There is now a total estimated 900,000 Rohingya refugees and a death toll of over 4000 Rohingya people per Reuters India.

The Rohingya have always been sidelined in Myanmar, where they are considered illegal immigrants and face severe restrictions. "Neither are there any asylums for the Rohingyas and they haven't applied for it too".

"In response to the situation in Myanmar, we are carefully reviewing content against our Community Standards", Budhraja added.

"People who are beating trumpets that we are violating worldwide law should know that there is no violation".

Besides repeatedly disabling his accounts, an activist who uses the name Rahim said Facebook has also removed individual posts he put on the site about Rohingya refugees.

Last month, State Minister Kiren Rijiju told parliament the central government had asked Indian states to identify Rohingya Muslims living illegally and initiate deportation processes.

"I am sure Myanmar will take positive steps to take back the Rohingyas".

Human rights group Amnesty International has blamed Myanmar's State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and the country's government for "burying their heads in the sand over the horrors unfolding in Rakhine State".

The NHRC intervention came ten days after the MHA told states that they have powers to identify and deport such people while noting that infiltration from Rakhine state of Myanmar in the recent years has become a burden on the limited resources of the country. In a campaign to wipe out the armed rebels, Myanmar's military also targeted unarmed Rohingya civilians, a tactic human rights groups have described as "ethnic cleansing".
