Good thing - Colbert, in his first show back since hosting the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, asked Clinton what she made of Trump's United Nations speech, and she took it from there.

Trump was roundly criticized after he told the U.N. on Tuesday he was prepared to "totally destroy" North Korea if its leader, who Trump called "Rocket Man", backed the United States into a corner. "I wish you were our president".

After the jovial segment that found Clinton covering her eyes in full-on grandma fashion, Colbert got serious.

"What I'd hoped the President would have said was something along the lines of 'We view this as unsafe to our allies, to our region and even to our country". Trump has vowed that he will not allow North Korea to obtain a nuclear weapon capable of striking the US, pointedly refusing to take military action off the table.

But she warned that Russian Federation would continue to try to influence American democracy.

And she said Putin is "tied up with his anger and disappointment" with the Soviet Union's collapse.

Clinton said Putin sat with his legs spread wide apart every time she met with him, before demonstrating it herself.

Clinton also referred to recent revelations where Russians bought Facebook ads and reportedly created fake online personalities to influence the election.

Clinton recalled a meeting in Russia with Putin, where he grew animated by her mention of wildlife conservation, and that Putin suggested Clinton's husband - not her - might be interested in coming along on a Russian wildlife trip.

"I said, 'Well, you know, I'll ask him, but if he's busy, I'll go'".

Had Clinton proposed government help for miners whose job loss was unavoidable, her statement might not have stung. That comes amid complaints that she's too focused on re-litigating the election, because whatever Hillary Clinton does, it's wrong.

However, Bernie Sanders is not particularly open to Hillary's criticism, especially after he went out of his way to tell voters to get out and vote for her so that Trump wouldn't get into office.
