Joseph Parker retained his WBO world heavyweight title after defeating Hughie Fury via a controversial points decision in Manchester on Saturday evening.

"I felt the aggression was good on my side", Parker said.

Parker said it was frustrating trying to catch the defensive Fury but he's proud to have taken his WBO belt in Fury's backyard.

Parker (24-0, 18 KOs) can count himself fortunate to be returning to New Zealand with his heavyweight title.

None of the above, as well as American Deontay Wilder, who holds the WBC version of the world title, will be concerned by what they saw from Parker at Manchester Arena.

Fury (20-1, 10 KOs) will wake up this morning feeling like the victim of an injustice and it would be easy to understand his frustration. He can be pleased with his display after such a long lay off. He stepped into the lion's den tonight in Manchester against a very good, very well-trained heavyweight, and he won with an aggressive game plan, a revival of his double jab (especially to the body), and by being supremely conditioned.

After the final bell and decision, Fury's cousin Tyson was filmed by journalist Sheldon Keay - sitting just in front of WBN, giving British Boxing Board of Control head Robert Smith both barrels.

However, the New Zealander is unlikely to see the result overturned and is now looking to book another big fight in Britain after winning on his first competitive visit.

Fury will retreat and counter-punch the entire time and Parker will move forward and chase Fury around the ring. But Parker walked right through it.

"This is letdown. When you've out that amount of work in, if you're going to win and take someone's record, win properly". In the fourth, Parker landed the biggest shot of the night when a headbutt left a small cut over Fury's eye, but not big enough to influence the action one way or another.

Hollow victory - the critics were unimpressed with Joseph Parker.
