Former pharmaceutical entrepreneur Martin Shkreli is now a convicted felon out on bail and awaiting sentencing, but after a Facebook post about Hillary Clinton prosecutors want him in jail now. I am declining that interview-schedule is full.
Shkreli asked his Facebook followers to grab a strand of Clinton's hair "to confirm the sequences I have", he wrote.
"Most recently, Shkreli threatened former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by publicly offering $5,000 to anyone who would "grab" some of her hair on the defendant's behalf during her upcoming book tour" prosecutors wrote.
Clinton is set to begin a book tour for her new autobiography entitled "What Happened", a look into the 2016 presidential election that she lost to U.S. President Donald Trump, according to The Hill. He later claimed it was a form of satire, but it was enough for the DOJ to file a motion on Thursday arguing that Shkreli is a danger to society and his bail should be revoked.
The government said that Shkreli, who's been a long-time critic of Hillary Clinton, has gone beyond merely posting comments on social media.
"We take the matter seriously and intend to address the issue responsibly", Benjamin Brafman, a lawyer for Shkreli, said in an email Thursday night. He was acquitted of stealing from Retrophin to pay back investors. Clinton is expected to begin her book tour September 12. Her representatives and the Secret Service declined comment.
Prosecutors cited previous examples of harassment by Shkreli. The sooner they can put him behind bars and take away all venues through which he can continue to harass and belittle other women, the better.
The government said Shkreli told court officials that he was worth $70 million and owns a Picasso, an unreleased Lil Wayne album and one of the original "Enigma" machines, which was used to break German codes during World War II.
In a May 26 Facebook post, Shkreli offered a $100,000 bounty to find the killer of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich, Smith said. "Instead I received scorn from at least one of their (least-intelligent) members, and the world at large failed to see my goal of putting a serious value behind music", he groused in the listing.
