The sixth grader explains why he refuses to participate.

A teacher in eastern MI has been placed on administrative leave after she was accused of "violently snatching" a sixth-grade student from his chair as he stayed seated for the Pledge of Allegiance. According to MLive, the protests were started by National Football League player Colin Kaepernick in 2016 during the National Football League preseason to protest racial injustice and police brutality (Stone did not tell WDIV that his refusal to stand was meant to address similar issues).

The student's father, Brian Chaney, said that the decision to not stand comes from his son and that he supports, stating,"It's his choice to sit I don't make him sit". I told her that I don't pledge to a flag.

Officials for the district said Friday the teacher has been placed on administrative leave while the matter is investigated.

The ACLU of MI weighed in on the matter via Twitter, calling "any requirement for a student to stand for the pledge of allegiance... blatantly unconstitutional". That means that the person who allegedly thought it was all right to snatch a child out of his seat trains other teachers.

The superintendent of Farmington Public Schools released a statement to WDIV saying the incident is under investigation and respected Stone's decision.

The next day, Chaney said he was verbally reprimanded by another teacher for doing the same thing.

'We want people to know people have rights.

Stone said he stopped participating in second grade after seeing his father, who works in the Pontiac school district, sit during the pledge.

'I have four sons.

"If they're fighting for freedom they're fighting for us to have choices, then it's our choice", said Mr. Chaney. "I'm going to say we're quite disappointed", he told board members, standing with his four sons. He's not anxious about what other people think of him'.

"I don't feel safe going to that school anymore because I don't know what they're going to do next", Stone told WDIV.

"Right now, what we're trying to do is see change, so this will never happen again", Stone said.
