That line was the opening salvo to a withering oratorical indictment of Pakistan's covert support for terrorism, in which Sushma Swaraj underlined the contrasts between an India that had made IITs and IIMs, and a Pakistan that had made the Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Hizbul Mujahideen.

"Mr Modi, "from the moment he took his oath of office, offered the hand of peace and friendship [to Pakistan]", Sushma told the UNGA".

In all, the foreign minister had as many as 27 bilateral meetings with her foreign counterparts. "They are masters at "forgetting" facts that destroy their version", Swaraj said in a hard-hitting response to Pakistani prime minister's speech. Significantly, the trilateral meeting in the U.S. also discussed issues of maritime security ostensibly because of the Chinese moves for hegemony over global waters in the Indian Ocean with the objective of dominating trade routes.

On Friday officials from both sides said shelling along the disputed border between Pakistan and India killed six civilians and wounded 30 more people in the latest confrontation between the two nuclear-armed countries.

Ms Swaraj said, regional prosperity, connectivity and cooperation can take place only in an atmosphere of peace and security which remains at serious risk in the region.

Observing that the complete elimination of poverty is the foremost objective of the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals, Swaraj said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flagship initiatives reinforce the spirit and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Pakistan is now "Terroristan', with a flourishing industry producing and exporting global terrorism", India said.

Showing mirror to Pakistan EAM highlighted the glaring difference between India & Pakistan. Ms Swaraj had certain uncomfortable questions for the United Nations and global community as well. Evil is evil. Let us accept that terrorism is an existentialist danger to humankind.

"Although India proposed a Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT) as early as in 1996, yet two decades later the United Nations has not been able to agree upon a definition of terrorism". If we continue to differentiate between good terrorists and bad terrorists, how can we fight together?

They reiterated their resolve to encourage launching text-based negotiations, during the current session of the General Assembly.

She said the terrorist groups created by Pakistan is not only harming India, but also hurting its neighbours - Afghanistan and Bangladesh - as well.

Pakistan is ready to engage with the USA and cooperate for peace in Afghanistan despite reservations over President Donald Trump's policy statement on Afghanistan but there is no space for India to play any role there, Asif explained.

She also underlined the flagship programmes launched in the country to empower the poor like Digital India, Start-Up India and Stand-Up India.
