Sony Xperia XZ1 first impressions: An old fashioned design with top-of-the-line specifications

As promised earlier, Sony has launched its flagship device smartphone in India called as Xperia XZ1 for Rs. 44,990. The smartphone will go on sale starting today that is 25th September in Black color variants via offline and online stores across the country. As most of the Sony devices, even this smartphone is IP65 and IP68 rated for water and dust resistance. It comes with HDR support, 138% sRGB coverage and a few Sony proprietary technologies like TRLIMUNIOUS and X-Reality unit. This is a 5.2-inch device with rounded sides and countered back, making the all-metal body easier to hold.

Featuring the innovative Motion Eye camera complete with Super slow motion, the Xperia XZ1 Compact is an excellent option for photography fans and budding filmmakers. Up front, you get a 16-megapixel front camera with 150-degree wide-angle lens for selfies and video calling.

The Sony Mobile Xperia XZ1 Compact also features the revolutionary 3D Creator, which enables users to capture high quality 3D scans of themselves, items and memories for us in AR applications or to simply print. The USP of this phone is that it comes with Snapdragon 835 processor and is equipped with 19MP rear camera and 3D scanning. Also, while the Xperia XZ1 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box, the Galaxy S8 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat, whereas the U11 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS.

In terms of design, Sony's premium smartphones haven't changed much since the launch of Xperia Z in 2013. The internal storage of the phone is 64GB and it can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card. For instance, it's powered by Qualcomm's top-end 835 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM.

For example, when Apple introduced the talking emojis, HTC brought the squeeze function and now SONY comes up with a 3D scanning feature. The phone is backed by 2700mAh battery which comes with Qnovo Adaptive Charging technology.
