  • Indian and Pakistan troops traded heavy fire on Monday

J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has strongly condemned the continued cease fire violations and unprovoked Pakistan shelling on Indian positions and civilian areas in the State. "We hear the sound of bullets fired into the dark", said Abdul Rehman, a resident who lives close to the border fencing in this village.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has now put the construction of underground community bunkers on fast track so that civilians living along vulnerable stretches are saved during cross-border shelling.

The Foreign Office, in a statement, alleged that Indian forces resorted to firing in Rukh Chakri and Rawalakot Sectors on September 30 and October 2, killing three civilians and injuring five others, including a woman.

Indian officials said the two sides exchanged fire in frontier Poonch district, about 180 km southwest of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

Pakistan summoned India's deputy high commissioner over the alleged ceasefire violations by the Indian troops along the Line of Control (LoC).

The incident took place on Monday morning along the Line of Control. Eight civilians also received injuries in the firing and all of them have been admitted to a district hospital of the Digwar sector. He identified the deceased boy as Israr Ahmad of Karni sector. "The firing stopped from both sides at 11am", a police spokesman said.

Officials said they had set up shelters where villagers could shift.

There have been 285 ceasefire violations this year by the Pakistani Army.
