  • Suicide attack on BSF camp at Srinagar

In August, the sources said, a group of 10 JeM terrorists had infiltrated from Pakistan into India for carrying out suicide attacks and they had divided themselves into small groups of three each for launching sensational attacks on security forces.

As the three terrorists entered the camp, alert BSF sentries managed to gun gunned down one of the Jaish men, forcing the other two to hide in nearby buildings.

The terrorists, according to BSF officials are holed up inside the building campus of the 182nd Battalion camp.

Meet was held to deliberate upon the "enhancement and improvise" of security measures at airport.

This is while residents of the area said they heard dozens of explosions and gunfire.

One BSF trooper was killed in the attack, while three other jawans were injured.

"So long our friendly neighbour (Pakistan) does not behave, I think we can expect many more attacks", Sharma said. Pakistan-based terror group Jaish e Mohammed's "Afzal Guru squad" has claimed the attack.

The latest attack comes amid a major counterinsurgency offensive by the Indian army in south Kashmir districts. "It was a good operation that they have conducted", he said.

Sources said the camp was targeted to inflict high casualties on security forces as it is situated in a high-security area and close to the airport.

The security camp of India's Border Security Force shares a boundary wall with the airport in Srinagar, the summer capital of Kashmir. "The situation is under control", the Inspector General of Police in disputed Kashmir, Munir Khan, told an Indian news organization, adding that "intermittent exchanges of fire are going on and Special Forces have been called in".

The operation to flush out terrorists was carried out by BSF, CRPF and state police.

IGP Khan said such attacks will not end.

"The local cadres of militants in Kashmir have been eliminated by security forces".

Police officials had then said that the module, headed by Khalid, was responsible for the attack on an army convoy in Baramulla in August a year ago, which killed two Army men and one policeman.
