In a press statement issued hours after news portal "thewire.in" released the story, Jay Shah said: "Today morning, a news website The Wire titled the 'The Golden Touch of Jay Amit Shah" authored by Ms Rohini Singh.

Soon after Mr Shah led the march to the CPM office, CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury at a press meet, said that the BJP campaign was a "flop show".

"I had taken loan either from NBFC or Non-funded Credit Facilities from cooperative banks on purely commercial terms strictly in accordance with law".

Sibal said the firm of Jay Shah getting such loan without meeting any eligibility is a clear case of crony capitalism.

He also said the younger Shah had made a decision to file criminal defamation suit against the author of the article and the editors of The Wire for Rs 100 crore in Ahmedabad.

The demand from the opposition parties came after a media report, citing filings with the Registrar of Companies (RoC), said that the turnover of Jay Amit Shah-owned Temple Enterprise zoomed by around 16,000 times during 2015-16 at around Rs 80 crore over the previous year. "Will you ask the ED to arrest these people", asked senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal.

Opposition parties sought a probe into claims in a media report that a company owned by BJP chief Amit Shah's son saw a huge rise in its turnover after his party came to power in 2014.

The Aam Aadmi Party, meanwhile, announced that it would protest Monday in front of Amit Shah's house in Ahmedabad, demanding further investigation in the case. It alleged the revenues of the company witnessed an "astonishing surge" in the financial year ended March 2015, when the firm received an unsecured loan of Rs 15.78 crore from a financial services firm owned by Rajesh Khandawala, the samdhi (in-law) of Parimal Nathwani, a Rajya Sabha member and top executive of Reliance Industries. We know who CBI, ED will investigate and who ED and CBI will not investigate.

Sibal was replying to the clarification of Cabinet Minister Piyush Goyal given in defence of Jay Shah.

"We can only request the Prime Minister to order inquiries into this", he said. He said that Khandwala had been Shah's stock broker for close to a decade and the loans were from a finance company, which was not just properly routed but also disclosed. He said the got company got Rs 25 crore loan from the Kalupur Commercial Cooperative Bank. "Why is PM silent?" He said that, "We reject any allegation or imputation against any leader". "L K Advani had resigned after the Jain Hawala diary episode while its then party president Bangaru Laxman had quit after a corruption expose", Yechury said, asking will it happen now under the Modi government.
