Airbus steals the day with $60 billion plane deals

18 November, 2017, 02:02 | Author: Kristen Ingram
  • Airbus and Boeing sign deals worth $75bn at Dubai air show

The order includes A320neos and A321neos, the source said. The value of the deal, although was not disclosed officially, is estimated to be above $2 billion.

Both Airbus and Boeing also marked leasing deals with EgyptAir on a record-breaking day for the show.

The first Airbus deal of the day was for the supply of 430 medium-range A320 family of aircraft to U.S. investment firm Indigo Partners.

The penultimate day saw Airbus striking three deals involving a total of 535 aircraft.

Franke did not take part in a signing by airline chiefs. Dubai is geographically at the centre of the global aviation world, and Dubai Airshow is where the sector comes to do business. The deal will spread the jets out across Frontier Airlines in the U.S., Mexico's Volaris, Wizz Air of Hungary and newcomer JetSmart of Chile.

The two major deals signed recently goes a long way to increase the strength of budget airlines who are operating excellently by combining bargaining charges with optional services and maintenance upgrade, where passengers are required to pay extra for those services. The aviation giant is expected to hold a press conference around 1000 GMT. Franke described this as an aggressive but achievable target.

The deal is expected to be officially announced later Wednesday at the Dubai Air Show, they added. Meanwhile, Boeing bagged the largest-ever single-aisle jet order from a Middle East carrier with its $27 billion deal with flydubai to sell 225 737 MAX Airplanes.

With more than 5,200 orders received from 95 customers since its launch in 2010, the A320neo Family has captured almost 60 percent market share, Airbus noted.

Airbus shares shot as much as 3.9 per cent and were trading 3.7 per cent higher at 86.67 as of 9:06 am.in Paris, taking the gain this year to 38 per cent.

The blockbuster finale to the main part of the November 12-16 show lifted a despondent mood that had settled over the Airbus chalet when a deal for A380 superjumbos collapsed on day one.
