It is, as you might imagine, themed around perilous underground dungeoneering and will add a total of 135 new cards. Players will be able to venture into the dark, winding dungeons deep beneath Azeroth in search of ancient, legendary treasures.

Every class can also look forward to a Legendary Weapon.

One of the new cards is the majorly powerful Warlock legendary Azari, the Dovourer. "And it's our most replayable single-player content ever". Recruit allows you to summon a minion from your deck onto the board, though it's not yet apparent whether this will be like the Discover mechanic (with three options) or if the minion is just random.

Brode also revealed a new keyword for the expansion: Recruit. You'll start with a deck of only ten cards (pulled from your own collection), and as you defeat bosses, you'll earn new cards to progress with. A new Hearthstone panel focusing on the update brought additional information, starting with the unveiling of 14 cards seen in the gallery below. Arriving with the launch of Kobolds & Catacombs, Dungeon Runs will send Hearthstone players on challenging adventures inspired by the classic fantasy dungeon crawl.

Kobalds & Catacombs will come to Hearthstone this December, with a special 50-pack bundle available for the one-time price of $49.99 on Battle.net and in Blizzard's game shop for those looking to pre-purchase. In true rogue-like fashion, if you lose, the game is over and you have to restart from the beginning. This is the reason why Blizzard implemented the cards in the Dungeon Run only as it is overpowered. You take a class, but get a random 10 cards for that hero, and more as you beat each encounter.

Kobolds and Catacombs doesn't have an official release date yet, but if past time frames of expansion releases are any indication, we'll see it before the end of the year and perhaps by the end of the month. Previously, only select classes could equip weapons, but there's now going to be at least one new weapon for each class in this expansion, each with a unique effect for that class.
