  • CBS suspends Charlie Rose; PBS halts his show after allegations

King applauded those who had the courage to speak up against Rose, reiterating that there is no excuse for behavior of that nature. "Let me be very clear. It is systematic and pervasive and I've been doing a lot of listening and I'm going to continue to do that".

She said Rose had groped her multiple times and claimed he once summoned her to his hotel room and emerged naked from the shower. "This behavior is wrong, period".

"I got 1 hour and 42 minutes of sleep last night", Gayle added. Oprah called me and said, 'Are you okay?' I am not okay.

"I haven't spoken to him", King said, turning to O'Donnell and asking, "Have you spoken to him?"

Instead of standing up for herself, Kelly admitted she just sent Rose a bottle of wine and a card.

Now, she said: "I'm really struggling. And I'm really struggling because how do you, what do you say when someone that you deeply care about has done something that is so disgusting", King said. King asked. "How do you wrap your brain around that? That said, Charlie doesn't get a pass". She said she was sacked when Rose learned she had spoken to a mutual friend about his behaviour. She says she began crying after another attempt. We are all deeply affected.

"What do you say when someone that you deeply care about has done something so awful?" anchor Gayle King said at the opening of CBS This Morning, which she has hosted alongside Rose and Norah O'Donnell. The show launched on New York PBS station WNET and then went national in 1994.

U.S. talk show host Charlie Rose has been suspended by several television networks following allegations of sexual harassment.

CBS did not immediately name a replacement for Rose on the program. His 2013 interview with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad won him both an Emmy and a Peabody Award, and in 2015 he received the Walter Cronkite Excellence in Journalism Award.

One of the report's authors, Amy Brittain, tweeted after her story was published to say her inbox was "already flooded with women who have had similar, disturbing encounters with Charlie Rose".

On her show on Tuesday, the TV anchor responded to the accusations against Charlie Rose with her own disappointing story involving the veteran journalist.

In a statement, PBS said that the service "expects all the producers we work with to provide a workplace where people feel safe and are treated with dignity and respect".

"I deeply apologise for my inappropriate behaviour", he said on Monday. "I have learned a great deal as a result of these events, and I hope others will, too". I always felt that I was pursuing shared feelings, even though I now realize I was mistaken. The critically acclaimed show has risen in the ratings to be competitive with NBC's Today show and ABC's Good Morning America.
