Former DNC chair Donna Brazile tells critics to "go to hell"

  • Elizabeth Warren thinks the 2016 primary was rigged in Hillary Clinton's favor

Donna Brazile, interim chair of the Democratic National Committee, delivers remarks on the second day of the Democratic National Convention on July 26, 2016 in Philadelphia.

Former DNC chair Donna Brazile revealed this week that she has "proof" that Hillary Clinton paid the Democratic National Committee in exchange for control of their strategy and finances. Bernie Sanders, signed his own agreement with the party. After Donna Brazile's self-serving narrative blew the lid off of Hillary Clinton's takeover of the DNC in August 2015, her defenders rushed out with the counternarrative that this as just business as usual. Tim Kaine, and replace them with Biden and New Jersey Sen.

But then she decided not to.

Liz Smith, who was a spokeswoman for Martin O'Malley, another 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, on Saturday told Fox News' "America's News Headquarters": "I know Donald Trump and Republicans would like to use Hillary Clinton as a whipping boy. I could not do this to them", she wrote.

Perez spoke on NBC's "Meet the Press", Brazile appeared on ABC's "This Week," and Pelosi was on CNN's "State of the Union".

For her part, Brazile on Sunday blasted critics of her decision to write a book. It is particularly troubling and puzzling that she would seemingly buy into false Russian-fueled propaganda, spread by both the Russians and our opponent, about our candidate's health.

"We do not recognize the campaign she portrays in the book", reads the letter, which was signed by top aides like Clinton's confidante Huma Abedin, former campaign chairman John Podesta and former campaign manager Robby Mook. Cory Booker, D-N.J., would be the strongest combination to beat Donald Trump in November.

During a CNN interview on Friday, Weaver said "it was pretty clear" that the DNC was in Clinton's corner.

The agreement established rules and guidance around the separate joint fundraising agreement Clinton's campaign signed with the DNC.

The fundraising agreement, signed in August 2015 during the primary process, was unusual for an open seat.

Among the reforms he said he developed after listening to Democrats across the party spectrum was ensuring that "no candidate participating in our presidential nominating process gains any unfair advantage - real or perceived - during our primary season". Clinton won 16.8 million votes to Sanders 13.2 million in the primaries.

"We should never confuse unity with unanimity, and it is my unequivocal goal to regain the trust of voters and unify and strengthen our party to ensure we can elect Democrats from the school board to the oval office", Perez wrote. She explicitly states that she set out as interim DNC chair to "get to the bottom of whether Hillary Clinton's team had rigged the nomination process, as a cache of emails stolen by Russian hackers and posted online had suggested". And while the DNC maintained "the authority to make the final decision" on senior staff in the communications, technology and research departments, the party organization said it would choose "between candidates acceptable to HFA".
