Hulu Comes to The Nintendo Switch

Right now gamers are able to download the Hulu app from the Nintendo Switch store and watch some movies. Now Switch owners will be able to watch Hulu exclusives, such as the Emmy-winning The Handmaid's Tale, as well as shows catalogued only on Hulu, like the Emmy-winning This is Us, both at home or on the go. Over the years, there were two extremes (high end and low-end games) but with the release of Nintendo Switch, developers can offer a mid-tier experience to the players as well.

The Nintendo Switch Hulu app is now live from the Nintendo Eshop. While Nintendo did not state that such services would never be available, they did deflect questions regarding streaming apps on the Nintendo Switch. When the Switch console was first released, many seemed confused why it didn't support any video streaming apps. Instead, users will need to navigate the app using the Joy-Cons.

Hulu arrives to the Nintendo Switch eight months after its release as the hybrid console's first video streaming app. When the Switch was launched, some criticized Nintendo for not offering access to streaming services like Hulu and Netflix. After another strong quarter, the gaming company is now aiming to sell 14 million units by the time the console turns one year old (March 2018), that's up from 10 million it aimed for previously.

The Nintendo Switch's features outside of vanilla game-playing are slowly but surely becoming more robust. It's an inferior version for a much higher price than you can get the PS4, Xbox One, or PC version for. With Hulu and Nintendo getting the service out, here's hoping that we see other big services, such as Netflix, Spotify, and HBO (to name a few), join Hulu sooner rather than later. We will put in the investment and develop for the platform.

Hulu is now available for the Nintendo Switch.
