In the wake of the Washington Post's blockbuster story today that four women have accused Alabama Republican US Senate candidate Roy Moore of inappropriately touching them while they were teenagers aged 14 to 18, and Moore was in his 30s, Alabama Republicans are circling the wagons by openly defending pedophilia. Although Moore appealed the recusal, the Alabama Supreme Court ruled in favor of the plaintiff, and the case was heard without Moore. "If these allegations are found to be true, Roy Moore must drop out of the Alabama special Senate election".

"If these allegations are true, he must step aside", McConnell said Thursday.

"These allegations are completely false and are a desperate political attack by the National Democrat Party and the Washington Post on this campaign", Moore said.

After Corfman's allegations, three other women also accused Moore of dating them when they were underage.

In the report from the Post, Leigh Corfman said Moore approached her when she was 14 years old, and on the second occasion they spent time together, she alleges he took off his clothes, touched her over her bra and underwear and guided her hand to touch his crotch.

Alaska Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski said odd should launch a write-in campaign if the allegations are true.

Trump put his public backing behind Moore opponent Luther Strange during the Republican runoff but later congratulated the former Alabama Chief Justice on his win and vowed to help him in the December 12 race against Democrat Doug Jones.

Daniel Dale, the Washington correspondent for the Toronto Star, has been asking local Republican officials in Alabama what they make of the allegations.

"The allegations against Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore are deeply troubling", Gardner said in a prepared statement.

Moore supported the Alabama Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act, a bill that gave Alabama police the right to arrest anyone they suspected of not being an American citizen until that person could "prove" his or her citizenship.

Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, said Moore should step aside without saying further investigation was necessary.

South Dakota Sen. John Thune, a GOP leader, told reporters Republicans are looking into steps to replace Moore if the allegations are true.

Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill said Thursday ballots have already been printed.

The Senate Leadership Fund Political Action Committee - which is aligned with McConnell - spent millions to back odd in the primary. However, Alabama law prohibits the replacement of a candidate up to 76 days before the election, meaning Moore's name will likely be on the ballot when Alabamians vote next month.

Stewart came to the floor and told McConnell and unusual that a statement was being sent to reporters. "There is no place in our party for sexual predators".

These stories of such inappropriate behavior are appalling to say the least, however what is even more disturbing is to see how Moore's ally defended his alleged sexual assault.
