Mr Duterte's aides have repeatedly told journalists not to believe everything the president says, cautioning that he often jokes or indulges in "hyperbole". "One fight there, another here...at the age of 16, I killed someone", Duterte said in Filipino which was translated into English by Rappler. "The president uses colorful language when with Pinoys overseas", he added, referring to Filipinos. "A real person, a rumble, a stabbing", Duterte said during a summit in the Vietnamese city of Danang, according to the BBC.

In 2015, while he was mayor of Davao City, Mr. Duterte said in an interview with Esquire that he had stabbed someone to death when he was 17 years old.

On the UN's special rapporteur on extrajudicial killings, Ms Agnes Callamard, who has been a frequent critic of the drug war, Mr Duterte said: "This rapporteur, I will slap her in front of you. Why? How much more now that I am president". "Never mind about the human rights advocates".

"What makes the death of people in the Philippines more important than the rest of the children in the world that were massacred and killed?" he asked. "I'll meet you in the airport". Because you yourself do not believe in the research of your own organization.

Senate Majority leader Vicente Sotto 3rd on Friday also slammed the two U.S. lawmakers for meddling in the Philippine government's anti-illegal drugs campaign.

He even quipped, "I tell the two (Duterte and Trump) to shake hands". "Lay off. That is not your business. I take care of my country and I will nurture my country to health".

This is not the first time Mr Duterte has claimed to have killed others.

Moreover, Duterte also threatened to ban Democratic Rep. James McGovern and Republican Rep. "We're even", he said without naming any names.

"Sabihin ko sa kanila, you are too presumptuous".
