"TripAdvisor has been made aware of recent media reports or events concerning this property which may not be reflected in reviews found on this listing".

TripAdvisor and Iberostar Hotels & Resorts both did not respond to The Daily Caller News Foundation's request for comment by time of publication.

"We believe any first-hand experience should be posted to our site as a means to communicate to other consumers looking for information on where they should travel", TripAdvisor posted on its site.

Additionally, TripAdvisor's highest recognition, the 2017 Traveler's Choice award badge, remains on clear display directly below the red message, which could add to potential confusion or perhaps downplay the intended severity of the new badge. However, if they do not meet safety requirements set by TripAdvisor, they will be labeled with a badge that says that users reported cases of discrimination, health, or safety concerns. The badges are first being deployed on listings for three resorts in Mexico: the Grand Velas Riviera Maya, the Iberostar Paraiso Maya, and the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo. "Accordingly, you may wish to perform additional research for information about this property when making your travel plans", the badge reads.

Last week, the Journal Sentinel published its report on TripAdvisor's removal of reviews in which travelers claimed they had been raped and sexually assaulted at Iberostar Paraiso Maya, a resort located between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. "'No, we're not going to call the police ma'am, '" Love told CBS News.

The notice, which appears as a banner or badge at the top of a hotel's page on the website, will last for three months, a TripAdvisor spokesperson told the New York Times.

The website had even deleted earlier advisory warnings from before she took the trip about the resort, on the basis that the reviews were not "family friendly".

TripAdvisor came under fire this month after The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported the company had deleted a review from a customer who said she was raped by a security guard at a resort. They have also used it to mark hotels which are suspected of posting fake reviews and to mark when major news events do not reflect the hotel in question.
