  • Weekend Storm to Bring Strong Winds & Heavy Rain

The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a wind advisory that's in effect until 9 p.m.

8 A.M. Sunday: The rain will be over by the morning with a breezy northwest wind. Most areas within the WATCH will have gusts higher than 40mph, with a few gusts topping 60mph.

For most, this will be rain as temperatures rise well above freezing overnight. Wind chills likely get into the teens at least for Sunday night. However, on the backside of this system, snow showers will be prevalent in the higher elevations of northern Vermont, New Hampshire, and NW Maine where a few inches of fresh snow are possible. Southwest winds 10 to 15 miles per hour.

MONDAY: Mostly sunny skies and chilly temperatures continue, with a high of 48 degrees. Keep in mind that thunderstorms themselves produce additional gusts that could exceed 60-70 miles per hour or even higher in localized spots. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. "Mountain snow showers will likely put down a fresh 1-3" of new snow across the northern mountains of NY and Vermont.

Weekend Storm to Bring Strong Winds & Heavy Rain

Tuesday will be sunny and warmer with highs in the mid-50s.

Wednesday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. With those gusty west winds, it will feel like it's down into the 30s at times later Sunday afternoon.

It also looks like we will see another round of cooler weather just in time for Thanksgiving.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, a blast of polar air is expected to produce some of the coldest temperatures so far this season in the Great Lakes region and in places such as upstate NY and Pennsylvania, Rose said.
