Week 11's best top-10 showdown?

12 November, 2017, 02:18 | Author: Sylvester Abbott
  • Five Games Not to Miss: Trio of juicy top 10 matchups highlight Week 11 slate

Nick Chubb and Sony Michel for UGA are one of the most dominant rushing duos in college football with over 1500 combined yards on the season. The Wildcats are favored to win out, and Wisconsin is pulling for them. Alabama could probably lose to Mississippi State and still make the playoff if it won the rest of its games. No. 12 Ohio State faces No. 13 Michigan State (noon).

Notre Dame (8-1): The Fighting Irish will nearly certainly be in if they win out, and their case would be strengthened if Georgia (which dealt Notre Dame its only loss) continues to stay undefeated.

Featured games in the 3:30pm ET slot include (1) Georgia at (10) Auburn, (20) Iowa at (8) Wisconsin, Florida State at (4) Clemson, and MI at Maryland. However, they'd still have to sweat out Selection Sunday. Is Ohio State, which was ripped by 31 points at Iowa, that bad?

TCU (8-1): The Horned Frogs are in basically the same boat as Oklahoma, whom they play on Saturday. It'll be interesting to see how things play out and what the CFP rankings look like next week.

Miami (9-0): The Hurricanes are one of just four Power 5 unbeatens remaining, and probably need to win out to reach the playoff.

Offensive coordinators from Alabama and Clemson and defensive coordinators from Georgia and Notre Dame are among 56 assistant coaches nominated for the Broyles Award, which is named for former Arkansas coach and athletic director Frank Broyles.

Wisconsin moved up only one spot to No. 8 after its 45-17 win at IN, even after Ohio State and Penn State plummeted out of the race. Even then, they might not be in.

UCF remains in the driver's seat for a New Year's Six bowl, though the Knights have to be a bit peeved about staying at No. 18 - behind eight two-loss teams - despite a solid win at SMU. It would also help if nobody among Oklahoma, TCU, Miami and Wisconsin won their conference championship.

Businesslike wins by No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Alabama and No. 3 Notre Dame, plus quality road victories by No. 4 Clemson and No. 5 Oklahoma, suggested that nothing would change at the top, and it didn't.

Auburn might be the most popular team in America the next two weeks, but are the Tigers more than spoilers?

So that's how it breaks down heading into Week 11. There's no better way to convince the committee you're one of the four best teams in the country than by going out and beating one.

I'll take your questions on that or anything else on your mind beginning at 10 a.m.
