Wizards star Wall out vs Raptors with sprained left shoulder

  • John Wall Says Wizards 'Smell Blood' In Matchup With Cavaliers

To add insult to injury, Wall spoke with ESPN's Rachel Nichols before Friday's game and said he believes the Cavaliers intentionally dropped games during the end of last year's regular season to avoid matching up with the Wizards in second round of the playoffs.

Wall said the Wizards will be faced with a similar challenge. Eastern Conference, 9-24-1 ATS in their last 34 games playing on 1 days rest and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall.

LeBron James - off to the worst eight-game start since his rookie season - has put the onus on the Cavs' defensive efforts.

Wall finished with 13 points, 15 assists and six rebounds on Friday night.

With nifty moves to the lane, jump shots falling and domination in the paint, Lebron had his way with John Wall, Bradley Beal and the boys in the nations capital. Washington trailed 104-93 through three quarters.

Wall said the Wizards have the Cavs' respect and that they gave them "the best matchup". Norman Powell also scored 15. If he can't show up in big games like these, it makes many wonder whether the Wizards seriously have the ability to make it past the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Despite the injury, Wall played through the fourth quarter - although later, admitted, "I shouldn't have been out there" - and led the Wizards by logging 38:28. Guys where LeBron doesn't have to carry the load every night. Also, maybe next time Wall and Beal will let their game do the talking rather than their mouths.

Morris got in on the action right away Friday, turning over the ball on Washington's first possession, before scoring the team's first points with an inside move a minute into the game. The over went 2-1. Frazier is only averaging 3.0 points per game and 4.6 assists. Hopefully, he can turn things around.

ABOUT THE CAVALIERS (3-5): Cleveland allowed at least 112 points in each of its last six games and served up a season-high 124 to the Pacers, who shot 54.4 percent from the floor, but coach Tyronn Lue is looking for positives.

The Wizards are scheduled to visit the Raptors at 10am (AEDT) on Monday.
