  • BBC launches voice control for smart speakers

By issuing the correct voice commands, Alexa will wake up users with the song, playlist, or news channel of their choice. Last Friday, the Amazon Music Unlimited streaming service and the Echo smart speaker became available in no less than 28 additional countries. In addition, it pushes the cute and circular Amazon Echo Spot, which will be launched on December 19, as the alarm clock of the future.

The user can choose to play a specific song, artist, album, a radio station or even mood music to begin your happy day.

On top of this Amazon also announced that Alexa has been updated to include support for music alarms.

Since first launching in the USA in October of 2016, Amazon Music Unlimited has expanded to the UK, Germany, Austria, Japan and more, transforming music streaming with the ability to just ask Alexa to play music by voice and creating the most natural listening environment for millions of subscribers. This functionality covers multiple music services, including the company's own Amazon Music app (if you're a subscriber).

Just as when music is played normally through Alexa, tracks can be played from Amazon's two music streaming services, Prime Music and Amazon Music Unlimited. This feature can be activated by saying, "Alexa, set an alarm for to time to song ".

The feature doesn't seem to have rolled out to all regions as it didn't seem to work on an Echo device that we tested it on in India.

Amazon has been trying to promote its products like the Echo range of smart speakers among others by offering innovative features to enhance the user experience. Some are certainly too good to miss out on: the discounted Amazon Fire TV with 4K and Alexa Voice Remote for starters.
