Israeli Army Strikes Several Border Areas In Gaza

  • 20 Palestinians Arrested in Connection With Attack on Israeli Children

The Israeli military said two rockets were launched toward Israel, but fell short of their intended destination and landed inside Gaza.

In reaction to the U.S. provocative decision to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel's capital, Brigadier General Jazayeri underlined "Israel has occupied the Palestinian territories" adding the continuation of the Palestinian resistance against this cancerous tumour of Israel reveals that the occupying regime will never feel safe.

Reportedly, the leader of the Palestinian Islamist group, Hamas, has called for a new "intifada", or uprising, as protests broke out in Jerusalem, Ramallah and Bethlehem.

Last week, the Islamic Jihad launched a dozen mortar shells at an army post northeast of the Strip, causing no injuries but some damage to army equipment.

Palestinians and security forces clashed earlier in the day along the Gaza border with reports of three Palestinians injured. "The IDF holds Hamas responsible for the hostile activity perpetrated against Israel from the Gaza Strip", an army statement said.

The announcement was a major shift by Washington that overturns decades of U.S. foreign policy. The final status of the city is one of the most sensitive issues in terms of finding a negotiated settlement between Israelis and Palestinians, and most United Nations states don't recognize Israeli sovereignty over the city while the peace process is ongoing.
