  • LG Unveils Nano IPS Monitor Screen To Be Introduced on CES 2018

Ahead of CES 2018, LG has given us a sneak peek of a few upcoming monitors - all of which feature cutting-edge technology to deliver imagery with unparalleled detail and fidelity.

According to the press release, "Nano IPS technology involves the application of nanometer-sized particles to the screen's LED to absorb excess light wavelengths".

The first variant - called 32UK950 - will end up sporting a 32-inch 4K UHD display. Thunderbolt 3 pot on the monitor will enable transmission of 5K resolution images at 60Hz using a single cable. This results in greatly enhanced intensity and purity of on-screen colours for a more accurate and life-like viewing experience, says the firm.

Other features include support for 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space and the VESA DisplayHDR 600 standard (meaning the monitor's brightness is as high as 600 nits and can display HDR content even in bright indoor lighting). It too comes with its own Thunderbolt 3 port, which will actually let you hook up a second 4K monitor to it if you wanted to daisy chain rather than plugging them directly into your graphics card. Again the Edge-ArcLine Stand, and 4-Side Edge Borderless Design are utilised. This monitor is equipped with Thunderbolt 3 connections as well as 10-bit processing.

Bringing up the rear is the gaming focused 34GK950G which looks to take the same Nano IPS panel technology from the 34GK950 only add in support for Nvidia's G-Sync tech, which syncs a panels refresh rate with the current frame rate being outputted by a Nvidia graphics card to eliminate frame tearing and give a smoother gaming experience.

"Most of us spend hundreds of hours in front of monitors every month and yet it's one of the least likely products to get upgraded when higher productivity is desired". This one goes up to 5K which is 5120 x 2160 and it is LG's first 21:9 5K UltraWide monitor.

We will hear and see more about the 34WK95U at CES 2018 in the first week of January. Pricing and availability information has not yet been revealed.
