  • Microsoft is giving Bing more intelligence—and a dash of Reddit

Users can now search for images within images - and even buy items they find there, such as jewelry worn by a celebrity. Microsoft has announced that it has added some cool new features to Bing in an effort to make the search engine more popular with users.

Microsoft is also infusing AI capabilities in Cortana enabling the assistant to sort emails and offer summaries of important emails from Outlook, Gmail and other accounts.

Bing Intelligent Search, which shows Reddit results for AMAs, questions, and communities.

"They don't just want a list of websites", the release said about consumers' demands for search engines. It works by providing users with another skill that is linked to the Cortana action that you have prompted.

Office 365 is built on Microsoft's powerful platform for AI that makes advancements in machine learning and AI accessible to every developer and organization.

If chatty electronic personal assistants are more your drug, Microsoft has packed a number of new features into Cortana.

Microsoft has taken the wraps off new artificial intelligence features for its search engine Bing, as well as Cortana and Office 365.

Another new feature is "perspective engine" (pictured in main image) which will make sense of numbers or countries with similar comparisons, for example, the number of calories in an ice cream or the size of Afghanistan.

Microsoft has also landed its first partnership to integrate Cortana into a third-party Android launcher. Text in image search is now rolling out and will be available to all Office 365 commercial subscribers by the end of December.

For Office 365 users, Microsoft is launching a preview of Insights in Excel, which can automatically seek out and highlight patterns that it detects. Much like how Google is using machine learning in the same way. The feature leverages machine reading comprehension to read and analyze countless documents to understand the web and surface answers more quickly and confidently.

Acronyms, which will roll out to Word Online for Office 365 commercial subscribers in 2018, leans on the Microsoft Graph to find and reveal the definitions of terms from previous emails and documents.

Microsoft is also expanding its AI-powered tools in Outlook with the introduction of its digital assistant into the mobile app with its new "time to leave" functionality. This brings the power of Cortana's AI to the experience, helping Outlook send notifications, directions, and more based on current location, real-time traffic, and more.

Outlook will notify you when it's time to leave for your next event.

Earlier this year, we introduced the ability for OneDrive and SharePoint to automatically recognize the content within images and detect whiteboards, screenshots, receipts, and more.
