Mourinho not risking Zlatan ahead of City clash

  • One in two out Jose Mourinho delivers Man United team news ahead of CSKA Moscow clash

He has though started the last four Premier League games with Phil Jones and Eric Bailly injured, while he has three Champions League starts to his name and he looks set to start against CSKA on Tuesday night.

Ahead of the game, Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he's provided a team news and injury update.

Paul Pogba will likely start this game after picking up a red card during the 4-2 win at the Emirates last weekend and, while his absence on Sunday is a major worry, supporters will be eager to see him line up alongside the highly promising McTominay in midfield.

Paul Pogba's injury recently showed United's vulnerability in midfield without the Frenchman, which could be one of the reasons for Mourinho's interest in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup victor.

'Sergio Romero is number one and Joel [Pereira] number two, and David is the third best'.

Pogba on Champions League duty could suggest the club have accepted his suspension for United's next three domestic games, which include matches against Bournemouth and West Bromwich Albion. "I'd say that's the biggest difference". He then added: "I can make a surprise tomorrow and the one that is unavailable, he plays". A couple of others guys are playing every match and they also need a rest.

"But when we speak about Luke Shaw, he's working to have an opportunity and sooner or later that opportunity will arrive because he deserves that opportunity". When that hard work comes, so does fatigue. "It is something that we knew would happen now and again, that he needs to stop playing to become ready for harder work for prevention". "It's the next match, the match that matters". He [Pogba] plays tomorrow.

Despite his intention to rest players, Mourinho insisted that United are not thinking about their neighbours just yet. "But he's very happy to play and to try to keep his momentum because since he was back from injury, he's been phenomenal".
