It thus makes ideal sense for the Samsung Notebook 9 Pen and Notebook 9 (2018) to be unveiled today ahead of commercial launches in Korea later this same month, followed by U.S. expansions in the first quarter of the new year.

On the specs front, the Samsung Notebook 9 boasts of a 13.3-inch Samsung RealViewTouch FHD display. It features an 8 Gen Intel Core i7 processor with up to 16GB DDR4 memory and 512GB NVMe PCIe SSD storage.

The 13.3 and 15-inch Samsung Notebook 9 (2018) are slightly more traditional, lacking both S Pen support and any sort of flexibility in terms of usage modes. "The 13" Notebook 9 is the thinnest of the bunch at 0.59" (14.9 mm) and the Notebook 9 Pen is the thickest, measuring 0.65" (16.5 mm) at its thickest point. A 720p infrared camera is included, as well as USB Type-C, USB 3.0 and HDMI ports for connectivity.

Samsung's new Notebook 9 Pen is probably the most interesting out of the three new laptops. Display resolution would be 1920 x 1080, but there is no higher resolution option, notes The Verge.

While Samsung hasn't revealed all of the hardware details yet, it has revealed the changes these 2018 models bring versus the current versions. The devices run on the 8 generation Intel Core i7 processor and Samsung Dual Channel Memory to handle multiple jobs, viewing and rendering high-quality graphics without compromising on the performance or speed. As the name specifies, the 13-inch Notebook 9 Pen is ready to take on Surface devices which include a built-in battery-free S Pen stylus, much like the Notebook 9 Pro introduced in May. The larger 15-inch model has an optional NVIDIA MX150 GPU variant. All new notebooks are built of magnesium aluminum alloy, dubbed as "Metal12". Samsung has also designed it to be a hybrid, where users can fold the display back on itself so that it doubles up as a tablet. The device comes with a 75Wh Hexacell battery which is expected to be the largest and more powerful battery in a notebook.

Samsung has announced the upgraded version of the Notebook 9 and the new Notebook 9 Pen. Both the devices will be showcased during the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 that will be held in Las Vegas in early January. In addition to fingerprint sensor, the Notebook 9 Pen also gets an IR camera for Windows Hello facial recognition.
