OR head football coach Willie Taggart is leaving the Ducks program to become the next head coach at Florida State University.

After Jimbo Fisher ended his 8-year tenure as the FSU head coach and departed for Texas A&M in dramatic fashion, it's reassuring to bring some stability back to the program.

Taggart also spent three seasons as head coach at Western Kentucky, taking the Hilltoppers from 2-10 in his first season to back-to-back 7-5 campaigns in 2011 and 2012.

History has shown that more often than not when a head coach takes another job before the bowl game his former team does not perform all that well. "'Do Something" became his tagline for his first season with the Ducks.

Taggart grew up in Florida and coached at the University of South Florida before joining the Ducks. Before that he was the head coach at South Florida, where he recorded a 24-25 record. However, before their bowl game in 2012, he was hired by USF to be their next head coach. The Ducks play Boise State in the Las Vegas Bowl on December 16. Shockingly, that already makes Mullen the fifth-longest serving coach in the Sunshine State.

OR started 4-1 and even briefly popped into the AP rankings, but starting quarterback Justin Herbert broke his collarbone and the Ducks floundered, going 1-4 without him. When Herbert returned, the Ducks won their final two games over Arizona and rival Oregon State to clinch a bowl berth. In eight seasons, Fisher went 83-23 (.783) and guided the Seminoles to three ACC titles as well as the 2013 national championship.

Taggart, 41, replaced Mark Helfrich at OR last season and guided the Ducks to a 7-5 record and an upcoming trip to the Las Vegas Bowl to face 25th-ranked Boise State.
