The Shanghai Roastery will also be the first of Starbucks' 27,000 locations worldwide, and the first of its kind in China, to seamlessly integrate a real-time, in-store and online customer experience, powered by Alibaba's Mobile Taobao app and the company's augmented-reality (AR) technology.

China is Starbucks' fastest growing market in the world with a store opening there every 15 hours. Starbucks said, "while demonstrating deep respect for the thousands of years of Chinese tea tradition, the StarbucksĀ® Teavana Bar reimagines a modern tea experience for customers who increasingly seek new and different tastes and experiences".

Starbucks is going venti in China.

Wondering where that two-story, 40-ton copper cask came from? Using fine tea ingredients, the bar's "tea curators" will handcraft new brews through Starbucks' classic tea mixology, as well as using more surprising processes such as nitrogen and tea.

Take a look at the new Reserve Roastery in this gallery. The success of the Seattle Roastery, which opened in late 2014, demonstrated to Starbucks the potential for more upscale locations and provided a blueprint for the other Roasteries in the works around the world.

The company has already has plans to open an even bigger store in Chicago in 2019.

One of its three coffee bars is 88-feet long, the longest Starbucks bar in the world - because waiting in line is so 2016.

Simply point a smartphone or tablet at key features around the Roastery to "bring to life information about the Starbucks bean-to-cup story", according to the company. Sales in same-stores were up by 8% in China in the most recent quarter, in comparison to an increase globally of just 2%. Starbucks owns 3,000 stores across 136 cities, with 600 stores only in Shanghai.

"With the rising middle class and the opportunity in China, the market is going to be much larger here", he said, adding Starbucks was looking to hit 10,000 outlets in China within a decade, catching up with the USA in terms of stores.
