  • Vince McMahon: XFL to return in 2020 without gimmicks

McMahon is back in charge, pumping $100 million into the XFL through his new private entity, Alpha Entertainment.

The chairman of the board announced the revival of the league during a press conference last night, and we here at Sportskeeda were lucky enough to be a part of the call. "A chance to do it with no partners, strictly funded by me, which would allow me to look in the mirror and say, 'You were the one who screwed this up, ' or 'You made this thing a success'". Soon there will be a new league to watch.

Plans include each team playing a 10-game regular season, with a postseason consisting of two semifinal games followed by a championship game.

Trump, a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, has reportedly said he learned a great deal about how to work a crowd from his time with Vince McMahon.

Featuring scantily clad cheerleaders and baffling rule changes such as a scramble between players rather than a coin toss, the league attempted too much, and in too extreme a manner. An interesting note is that the games, according to McMahon, will be 2 hours from start to finish ideally. The league was plagued with anthem protests, players getting into trouble and a general sense that the animals were running the circus.

Professional football will be reimagined when the new XFL kicks off in early 2020.

The most famous handle belonged to McCallum's Las Vegas Outlaws teammate Rod Smart, who had "He Hate Me" etched on his uniform.

"We will present a shorter, faster-paced, family-friendly and easier to understand game", McMahon said. "And nothing to do with social issues, either. There were really good football players".

Promising to give the game "back to fans", McMahon said the new league would begin operations in 2020.

For example, NBC broadcast an entire National Football League game this season using the SkyCam - a camera suspended from cables that allows the viewer to watch from the view of the quarterback - which was first used by the XFL.
