House Republicans won't release the memo

  • Trump reportedly working to get Nunes memo released

The Justice Department warned the House Intelligence Committee chairman on Wednesday that it was "extraordinarily reckless" for Republicans to push to release a committee memo that draws on classified information to portray the origins of the Russian investigation as scandalous.

CNN reported Wednesday that a Senate intelligence committee request to access the memo has been denied.

Democrats are countering with their own memo, saying that the GOP memo has misleading findings. Rep. Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd, a Trump appointee, notified the congressman by letter Thursday. There would be a five-day waiting period for President Trump to object, but he is not expected to object. That's according to the Alliance for Securing Democracy which researches influence operations by Russian Federation and other countries. These are texts between an investigator who's a senior FBI official involved in the Hillary Clinton email investigation and the Russian Federation probe and an FBI lawyer. Mueller promptly fired the agent involved when other messages bad-mouthing Trump were discovered.

The House Intelligence Committee voted last week to allow all House members to read the memo in the committee's secure spaces, but the invitation was not extended to senators.

Despite the fact that the Department of Justice has come out against the memo's release, a majority of the 13 Republican members of the committee look to be in favor.

Soon the debate over the memo is likely to be fought in the open, as Nunes and the committee's Republicans are preparing to use an obscure committee rule to vote to release it, as well as potentially some of the supporting documents.

After Trump's national security adviser Michael T. Flynn resigned, Nunes said he would not seek to investigate the retired Army general's ties to Russian Federation. Strzok says "You and I both know the odds are nothing".

"Unlike nearly all of the 200 GOP congressmen who've seen the memo, I have actually read the underlying documents, and I am confident that there was nothing improper like what this memo seems to allege", Warner said.

"Through we are now unaware of any wrongdoing relating to the FISA process, we agree that any abuse of that system can not be tolerated", he added.

Conservative Republican members of the House Freedom Caucus indicated earlier this week that Trump would support their efforts to publicize the memo's contents. Rep.

And Democrats accuse Nunes of trying to derail special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russia's influence in the 2016 election and whether it worked with the Trump campaign. In 2004, when then-president George W. Bush's White House attempted to re-authorize warrantless wiretapping over the objection of the Justice Department, Wray, then the head of its criminal division, was ready to resign-alongside then-deputy attorney general Comey.

In a statement, California Rep. Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the committee, said Democrats will ask on Monday during a regular committee meeting for a vote to make their memo available to all House members as well.

Yet other than in stories of the recent "Secret Society" revelation, Strzok mistress Page has absolutely no presence to speak of on the Internet. Even though any reasonable reading of the messages shows the two doing anything but trying to subvert Trump - not to mention the fact that we aren't reading whatever texts were sent by the thousands of other people who work at the Federal Bureau of Investigation - each message is examined with Talmudic care to find its hidden meanings and subtle implications, in the desperate hope that some ill will toward Trump might be found.

The texts showed in the texts that the agents had a "real hatred of Trump", said Gaetz.
