  • The Nintendo Labo Variety Kit for Nintendo Switch includes a cardboard punchout model of a working

If you're a big Nintendo fan, you've probably heard that Nintendo has just revealed Nintendo Labo, a new way for players to interact with their games. That's why these new gaming add-ons are so exciting.

It's another out-of-left-field move from Nintendo, but the first trailer is dazzlingly imaginative and looks like something that kids will eat up - and non-kids, too.

The designs are absolutely novel and unique, and who knows if Nintendo plans on unveiling more sets apart from the two initially introduced?

"Feel free to tell me I'm nuts... but doesn't $70+ for the Nintendo Labo cardboard stuff seem incredibly expensive for something that's not that durable, especially in the hands of kids?".

The kits include everything needed to assemble Toy-Con creations, including building materials and relevant Nintendo Switch software. Catch one of many exotic fish shown swimming on the Nintendo Switch screen by casting your Fishing Rod and unwinding the reel to lower the hook.

Nintendo is calling cardboard devices Toy-Con, which is a play on the Nintendo Switch's controllers, which are called Joy-Con. The same goes for the piano, house and robot kits. Then you slot the Joy-Cons in the side, and the screen generates the sound when you press the keys. Well, remember the Wii Wheel that turned the Wii Remote into a steering wheel that complemented games such as Mario Kart Wii and others? And hey, the super cool DIY kits are just a bonus. Nintendo has two Nintendo Labo Kits coming, each with their own theme, and neither of them are cheap. The "variety kit" will include five different games and Toy-Con, including the RC auto, fishing rod, and piano for $69.99. This set will cost $69.99.

The Nintendo Labo Robot Kit lets kids make a motion controlled robot suit that responds to their arm and feet movements. Well, it's cardboard... but this isn't a virtual reality ploy. That one will cost $79.99. This isn't a creation kit like the other two.

Once built, the cardboard creations can then be customised using the colouring pens, stickers and paint that come with the rest of the kit.
