  • Nintendo's Switch Is The Fastest Selling Gaming Console Ever

Nintendo has managed to sell so many of its Nintendo Switch console that it's become not only its own fastest-selling console, but also the fastest selling in the US ever, beating the record set by the Wii back during its launch.

After its launch on March 3, 2017, Nintendo Switch sales have surpassed 4.8 million units in the U.S.in ten months, according to the company's internal sales figures.

At the beginning of 2017, Nintendo was in a precarious position.

Strong launch titles have helped drive the popularity of the Switch, including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which over 55% of Switch owners have bought.

As you might expect, the president and COO of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aimé, was more than happy to chime in on today's announcement. Those are the best numbers, period, for all video game consoles in the U.S. The old record holder was the Wii, with four million units sold during the same amount of time.

A console is only as good as the games that can be played on it and in the case of the Switch, there's an excellent library to choose from. The music will undoubtedly keep you focused on your task while providing a wonderfully entertaining experience on your Switch. The most recent mobile Nintendo game, "Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp", made an estimated 10 million in its first nine days after launch, versus $24 million for "Super Mario Run".

To date, about 300 games for the Switch have been released to the market.
