  • Snapchat update lets you share Stories with people who don't even use the app – here's how to use it

Now, Snapchat have announced a new feature that could jeopardise the whole point of sharing stories the app.

After years of seeing its novel ideas ripped from its app by Facebook, Snap still has the moxie to develop new features for Snapchat.

By enabling people without Snapchat to see Stories from Snapchat, those people may be more likely to download Snapchat's app and use it.

This includes content published to the user-generated Our Stories and Search Stories section of the app, as well as videos or pictures from celebrities and public figures, like Kim Kardashian-West or Jeremy Corbyn, which Snap classes as "Official Stories". The Android and iOS versions of the Snapchat app in these regions have already been updated to new versions with a drastic redesign that was teased last November. Better take care with those stories from now on people, make sure they're not set to public before you get caught doing something you'll regret forever.

From there, tap and hold a Story tile, select the Share Story option and choose how you'd like to share the Story. For now, these three categories are the only Stories available for off-app sharing, but that may change over time.

While it shows you how many times your profile has been viewed, it doesn't tell you who those visitors are.

They help Snapchatters discover and identify interesting Stories more easily.

Currently, any image or stories shared on Snapchat stays online for just 24 hours. Snap says that, similar to the situation on mobile, Our Stories will be available on the web for up to 30 days before disappearing. Stories that appear in Search typically appear in the order of what's relevant to you, trending, or happening nearby.

You can also search keywords in Search to see Snaps from the community. If finding your favourite Snapchat filter is the worst thing that happens to you today, it has been a good day.
