Douglas Haig A 'Person Of Interest' In Las Vegas Shooting

01 February, 2018, 00:44 | Author: Kristen Ingram
  • Scene's from day after the Route 91 Harvest shooting in Las Vegas

Haig was contacted one day after the attack, after investigators found an Amazon box with his address on it inside Paddock's hotel room, reports CBS News correspondent Mireya Villarreal.

The AP attorney returned the documents, but the other lawyer had already transmitted the documents and the Review-Journal published Douglas Haig's name online.

Douglas Haig's name appeared Tuesday after a Nevada court judge released almost 300 documents related to the case. Police did not immediately return calls seeking comment on Tuesday.

A law enforcement official told The Associated Press in October that Paddock bought 1,000 rounds of tracer ammunition from a private seller he met at a Phoenix gun show.

According to the documents, for the first time, an additional "person of interest" in the massacre on the Las Vegas Strip was identified.

The judge clarified in the documents that Haig was not "directly related" to the shooting, as Paddock was allegedly a lone shooter. He searched "do police use explosives" on September 15, 2017, as well as "SWAT Las Vegas".

Haig said he felt "horrible" when he realised what his customer had done and he shut his business down within weeks of the shooting.

She was initially considered a person of interest but authorities later said she is not likely to face criminal charges. She noted that there is still an ongoing investigation regarding one other individual connected with the shooting.

Fifteen out of the 22 unsealed search warrants have to do with cell phone records. The court released almost 200 pages of records after the hearing.

Lombardo on January 19 released an 81-page preliminary report of the investigation, and said police and the FBI believe Paddock acted alone before he killed himself after the shooting.

Authorities previously characterized Paddock as a gambler on a losing streak who was obsessed with cleanliness, may have been bipolar and was having difficulties with his live-in girlfriend.

Newly unsealed search warrants from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department are revealing more discrepancies with the 1 October timeline.

Court officials are redacting the warrant records in preparation for release later Tuesday.

Separately, Judge Timothy Williams ruled that the Clark County coroner should release autopsy records of the shooter and the 58 people killed by gunfire, with victims' names blacked out. The coroner and county attorneys didn't immediately say whether they would appeal Williams' ruling to the Nevada Supreme Court.

Today, Judge Timothy Williams will hear arguments for and against releasing the coroner documents.

Coroner John Fudenberg also found that Stephen Paddock, the man who authorities say carried out the October 1 shooting, killed himself with a gunshot to the mouth.
