Indian Woman Pretending to Be Man Marries Twice, Steals Dowry

  • Sweety Sen married a second woman in 2016 renting rooms for both wives

According to the police, Krishna Sen alias Sweety Sen, from Uttar Pradesh, had created a fake profile on Facebook as a man through which she befriended a few women, and "married" one from Kathgodam in 2014.

In a weird and bold case of fraud, a woman called Sweety Sen from Bijnor, pretended to be a man and married two women in order to get dowries out of them.

During police interrogation, the woman confessed to her crime saying she used to indulge in a physical relationship with her "wives" in pitch darkness by using sex toys ordered through online sites.

Krishna Sen was apprehended for demanding dowry - which is illegal in India. During questioning, Sen said she was a woman.

The freakish scam apparently began when 26-year-old Sweety Sen from the state of Uttar Pradesh created a fake Facebook profile under the name Krishna Sen in 2013. As the two women got married, Sen allegedly started manhandling Kamini for dowry.

After the second victim realised that Sen was not a man, Sen tried to hush her up by offering a certain amount from her profits.

The police said that the matter came to light after the accused went through a medical checkup.

According to police, Sen told them she had always wanted to be a boy and live a "man s life".

It is hard to wrap one's head around several things here, but what comes across clearly is this: a woman had had an unsatisfactory marriage for four years, but not only did she not walk out of it, she continued to indulge her "husband's" demands and got her family to pay him Rs 8 lakh. The first "wife" holds a double master's degree, and her family coughed up Rs 8.5 lakh so Sen could set up a factory.

Police also revealed that during the two marriages, Krishna would not allow the women to look or touch her body. However, Nisha came to know that Krishna was not a man, but she was lured by her to keep silent, by promising the former of monetary gains. I did not register a complaint.

In October 2017, Sen's first wife filed a police complaint, charging Sen with dowry theft and domestic violence. "I don't want to live with her now", said another victim. Officers have charged her with fraud, impersonation and forgery.

Police said they are on the lookout for Sen's family, who were present during both the weddings and allegedly visited the homes of the two duped women.
