  • Bookend Storms Dumping Snow Over Northern Arizona Mountains

Like usual, the rain / snow line that typically runs along the I-95 corridor will determine how much winter precipitation the District will get - if it gets any at all.

While that may be worth celebrating, Meteorologist Andrew Taylor with the National Weather Service warned not to get too excited. Those temps will be the lowest we have seen since around Christmas.

It'll shift to sleet in the afternoon and overnight before clearing the area early Sunday.

Starting Friday late morning and continuing into Saturday a weak pacific storm will pass through our area and produce scattered snow and gusty winds and likely to impact travel especially over mountain passes.

Snow will continue Thursday morning, mainly to the east and southeast of Flagstaff, with up to several inches of accumulation possible before the front moves out.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for most of Montana through Thursday morning. Tonight will be blustery - northwest wind gusts as high as 30 miles per hour - with a low around 10.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy, low around 15.

The weather service said Saturday and Sunday will also be sunny with highs in the lower to mid-40s.

On Tuesday, the European model was projecting as much as 8 inches of snow across parts of New Jersey this weekend, and the American GFS model was projecting virtually no snow in the Garden State.
