A man suspected of selling armour-piercing bullets to the Las Vegas gunman who killed 59 people, including three Canadians, at a music festival was charged on Friday with conspiracy to manufacture and sell such ammunition without a license.
According to a criminal complaint filed in a federal court in Arizona, Haig does not have a license to manufacture armour-piercing ammunition.
A criminal complaint alleges two unfired.308-caliber rounds found in gunman Stephen Paddock'shotel room had Haig's fingerprints on them as well as tool marks from his workshop.
The documents did say if any of the ammunition tied to Paddock was used in the attack and Las Vegas police would not say whether armour-piercing bullets were used in the shooting, but referred to a preliminary report saying some rifle magazines were loaded with armour-piercing ammunition.
Haig said in a press conference Friday that Paddock didn't raise suspicions that he planned to commit any crimes.
Paddock unleashed a hail of bullets from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino that killed at least 59 people in what is now the deadliest mass shooting in USA history.
Haig was not aware of what happened in Las Vegas until agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the BATF told him 11 hours after the events unfolded.
The DOJ also accused Haig of operating an internet business called "Specialized Military Ammunition" which sold "high explosive armor piercing incendiary ammunition, armor piercing incendiary ammunition, and armor piercing ammunition" in states like Nevada, Texas, Virginia, Wyoming, and SC.
A lawyer for Haig was not immediately available to comment.
"Revulsion, sickness, horrified that this man would do something like that", Haig said.
He didn't have the quantity of tracer ammunition on hand that Paddock was seeking, so Paddock contacted him several days later and lined up a sale at Haig's home.

Haig's lawyer said they held the news conference in a bid to protect his reputation after he was revealed earlier this week to be a "person of interest" in the investigation.
Haig's name was mistakenly released when a judge in Nevada made the police warrant public without redacting Haig's name. And nothing could be further from the truth, ' Haig said. That was their only transaction, he said.
Haig said he was at a loss to explain why Paddock did it.
Haig, 55, of Mesa, Ariz., is a senior engineer for Honeywell Aerospace, an aircraft engines and avionics manufacturer in Phoenix.
Paddock arrived at Haig's home "very well-dressed, very well-groomed, very polite, very respectful", Haig said. The product that I sold him had absolutely nothing to do with what he did.
