Speaker receives letter of resignation from SA President Zuma

Zuma had earlier this week been recalled by the ruling African National Congress (ANC) but had refused, leading to his party to support a vote of motion of no confidence which was scheduled for Thursday.

He further accused the new ANC leadership of being "too scared" to tell Zuma why he was sacked.

He said that the call for him to resign was not based on any "policy".

He said Zuma did not leave voluntary or out of his own conscience but was instead afraid of the humiliation he faced because of the EFF'S motion of no confidence, which Malema said had a 99 percent chance of succeeding. "We can not be the respecters of the constitution when it comes to Zuma, but when it comes to us, we want to pretend that we are clean", he said.

"I remember one day we were in Northern Cape he came with the Gupta's chopper and I even asked someone next to me: 'whose chopper is this?' They said it was the Guptas, they are the ones sponsoring him". Mbeki, Zuma's predecessor, has had a distinguished post-presidential career as an African elder statesman; it is hard to foresee Zuma in such a role. "Then he removed us before because he knew we were going to remove him", Malema said.

However, Malema said the EFF would be in the House, and warned journalists to "wait and see" what the party's MPs would do during the sitting on Thursday.

Malema was the president of the ANC Youth League until he was expelled in 2012.

Sources from Cape Town, the seat of parliament, indicated that this decision was adopted after Zuma's reluctance to comply with the resignation request made by the Executive Committee, after exhaustive deliberations held in this capital.

"Jacob Zuma has finally surrendered to the political pressure which the EFF was at the centre of for past three years".

"In her letter today‚ Ms Mbete said she was now consulting on the request and would revert to Mr Malema".

"I told him [Zuma] when he expelled us, you are fighting the wrong people. So in Sindiso's name, this fight will continue", Malema said.
