  • Dapchi Girls: Hold Army, Police Responsible …-Dogara …As FG Lists Details Of Missing 110 Students ….Army Speaks

The wife of the President of the Senate, Mrs Oluwatoyin Saraki, has expressed confidence in the ability of the Federal Government to rescue the over 110 Science Secondary School girls abducted by suspected Boko Haram insurgents at Dapchi, Yobe.

Apart from the full list of the missing girls, the statement also contained the age and class each of the 110 students belonged to.

According to the New York Times, the missing girls' parents are forming a similar organization to Bring Back Our Girls, to advocate the release of their daughters.

This committee was summoned by National Security Advisor Major General Babagana Monguno, and is presided by a high ranking official (General of Division), with representatives of the National Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the national intelligence agencies, the Police, the State Service Department, the Defense and National Security Office, two representatives from Yobe and one from the National Security Advisor's Office.

"Governor, Ibrahim Geidam is the Chief Security Officer of Yobe State and his statement can not be taken lightly as he has indicted the Nigeria Army as the cause of the adoption", Adewole said.

"This is unacceptable and the House of Representatives, and indeed Nigerians, will hold the security agencies responsible".

As of Monday, the Nigerian air troops had already flown a total of 200 hours while conducting the search for the girls.

Nigeria's Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar, has been relocated to Yobe State, where Dapchi is located, to personally supervise the search, the government statement said.

The February 6 memo, signed by Emmanuel Aladeniyi, a brigadier-general, warned of impending attacks, especially suicide bombing, in public places, such as the University of Maiduguri, markets, mosques and parks.

Secondly, Mr. Nwachukwu said, the date on the memo was February 6, 2018, almost a month after the troops had been moved from Dapchi to Kanama, about 125 kilometres North-east of Dapchi on Nigeria's border with Niger.

"Contrary to the comments being circulated, troops earlier deployed in Dapchi were redeployed to reinforce troops at Kanama following attacks on troops' location at the Nigerian - Nigerien border".

A statement released by its National Coordinator, Mr. Adewole Kehinde in Abuja on Tuesday, the group said the Nigerian Army didn't inform the Police "officially" as claimed by the Army Spokesperson.

"It is thus obligatory, to state that the allegation reportedly attributed to the Governor of Yobe State is misleading and misinforming".

On Friday, parents and locals in Dapchi said they had been left vulnerable to attack because soldiers had been withdrawn in the last few weeks. While noting that whereas Boko Haram had been technically defeated, MURIC said the Nigerian military had inadvertently allowed the insurgents to gain the upper hand in wits.
