Joe Hart to return for West Ham in boost to World Cup…

  • West Ham might have to play in empty stadium after fan trouble

The Football Association has "strongly condemned" the crowd disturbances during West Ham's match against Burnley this afternoon.

A West Ham statement said: "We have immediately launched a full and thorough investigation into the incidents which marred the second half of today's match and are committed to taking decisive and appropriate action".

West Ham midfielder Mark Noble tussled with one intruder, while Barnes also confronted a fan - actions Dyche felt were entirely understandable in the context of a regrettable situation.

Joint-owners David Gold and David Sullivan, whose decision to uproot the club from its old east London Upton Park ground to the former Olympic Stadium is behind the anger, are understood to have left their seats for their own safety.

Recent history is with West Ham, who have won five of their last seven Premier League games against Burnley, including victories in all three home matches.

If that was not bad enough Chris Wood doubled Burnley's lead minutes later and this time there were scuffles in the stands and one fan ran on and took the corner flag, attempting to plant it on the centre spot.

"Everyone knows you don't come on the pitch - that's the rules".

"An emergency meeting has been called with all London Stadium stakeholders".

If the West Ham manager needs to try to change things against Burnley then he can look to his bench, where available to bring on are Patrice Evra and Javier Hernandez, amongst others. "You know, the players had gone a goal down, we want them to keep their focus". By that stage the action on the pitch had become nearly incidental with fans directing their anger at the club's chiefs.

When asked what he'd said to the players at full-time, Moyes responded: "I've told them that we are all sticking together - we're going to stick out chest out and go again".

"There were a couple of games where I wasn't quite so happy that we didn't do as well as we should have".

"I've said it all along [of Hart], he's been good".

"We need to play better for longer periods, and defend better in the short periods we're put under pressure".

"We scored a top goal, a great pass from Matt Lowton and a fine lay-off [by Wood]. It does make the atmosphere really tough to play in".
