The no-confidence motions moved against Narendra Modi government could not be taken in the Lok Sabha on Monday as the House was adjourned following noisy protests and sloganeering from members of various parties.

Tamil Nadu's ruling AIADMK on Friday sacked spokesperson K.C. Palanisamy after he urged the party to back a no-confidence motion against the Modi government if it did not take a favourable stand on Cauvery issue. The adjournment was the 11th time a parliamentary session had been disrupted since March 5.

Meanwhile, TDP MPs protested in front of Mahatma Gandhi's statue in Parliament, demanding special category status for Andhra Pradesh.

Bihar made similar demands much before Andhra Pradesh did so, the Sena noted.

"We thought as an NDA member, BJP will do justice to the state, but nothing happened". He said the TRS has nothing to do with the no-trust move by the Andhra Pradesh leaders. It has the potential of prompting other NDA allies to table their own controversial regional demands.

"If you go through records in the past, the Speaker has rejected no-confidence motion when the House is not in order".

The Congress too has conveyed that they will be supporting the two motions. The Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress, which is in power in West Bengal, has also joined the brigade.

Both parties have been lobbying with opposition parties for support to their respective notices.

Farooq Abdullah, National Conference - "I am in the opposition". Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant, however, said the party will abstain from voting.

The motion, however, has not been introduced in the Lok Sabha today. Accusing the NDA government of avoiding the no-trust embarrassment, YSRC MP YV Subba Reddy said that the members from all the parties were urged to help maintain order in the House on Monday so that the Speaker would be obliged to move the motion. So, I want to ask what does govt fear?

At present, the Lok Sabha has 539 members.

In the letter, he has asserted that if the Centre remains reluctant to grant the special category status to the State then all MPs of his party will resign on April 6. Now, President Ram Nath Kovind is on a tour to the state.
