Amir Khan Destroys Phil Lo Greco in Less Than a Minute

22 April, 2018, 02:46 | Author: Sylvester Abbott
  • Amir Khan weighed-in slightly heavier than his opponent Phil Lo Greco at 10st 10lbs on Friday

Amir Khan returned to the ring for the first time in almost two years following an ugly loss to middleweight Canelo Alvarez, and Khan looked spectacular fighting at welterweight.

It has been almost two years since Amir Khan has stepped into a ring for a fight, when he was knocked out by Canelo Alvarez.

The 31-year-old former world champion followed up on the knockdown with an nearly maniacal assault against the ropes: Lo Greco swallowed a couple while slumped backwards before collapsing to his knees under fire.

The Brit, fighting in his homeland for the first time since 2013, put the 33-year-old down after catching him with a sharp right-left combination only 13 seconds in.

Khan told Sky Sports: "I'm back with a bang".

"It's been a few years now since I've fought in the United Kingdom, it's gonna be nice to fight for the United Kingdom fans".

Amir Khan threw a glass of water over opponent Phil Lo Greco after Lo Greco made personal comments about his wife Faryal Makhdoom at an opening press conference earlier this year.

After dropping Lo Greco to his knee, Khan lit up the Canadian boxer with a flurry of shots that dropped Lo Greco into the ropes.

Hearn tried to make the fight happen in 2016 and 2017, but Brook now operates at super-welterweight.

After the fight, Khan called out both Kell Brook and Adrien Broner.

"I want to give the United Kingdom fans some big fights and sell out arenas and stadiums".

"Kell Brook has been living off my name for a long time".

Outside of heavyweight fights featuring Anthony Joshua, Khan-Brook is perhaps the biggest fight in British boxing.

Four months after facing snakes and spiders in an Australian jungle, Amir Khan returns to the limelight in a more comfortable arena determined to end his boxing career on a high.
