  • Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak says he's left Facebook amid personal security concerns as fallout from massive Cambridge Analytica data breach continues

Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, claims that he is getting off from Facebook, in the middle of uncertainties about security polices about the personal data that consumers share with the social networking behemoth.

Like many high-profile tech personalities such as Elon Musk, Woz has taken issue over Facebook's shenanigans when it comes to the privacy of user information. Carry, who also said that he would dump the stocks in the company, stated that user data should be handled more responsibly, and that activist investors should send a message asking the company to have responsible conduct. In an email to USA Today, Wozniak said that people entrust their personal details on Facebook which in return generates money from this information. While Apple could of course make more money if it monetised its users, Cook states that they opted not to. Why pay to display your adverts for baby products to everyone that visits a site when you can pay Facebook to display them only to new parents, for example?

Wozniak explained that Facebook doesn't safeguard its consumers' data the manner Apple (AAPL) does, also instead profits from its user's information. "However, I think we're beyond that here", Cook said.

In a goodbye message, he wrote: "It's brought me more negatives than positives".

Steve Wozniak has left Facebook, according to a report. "Ads and spam are bad things these days and there are no controls over them".

"Anyone can go into their Facebook "settings" and look through the ads section to see why it so disgusted me".

Wozniak has joined others in the complaints about how Facebook allowed this to happen, with Apple CEO Tim Cook already critiquing the company.

Wozniak's move came only before face book CEO Mark Zuckerberg meant to testify before congressional committees regarding the corporation's Cambridge Analytica scandal. "Playboy' has deactivated its Facebook accounts amid the backlash".

Facebook has recently come under fire over its handling of user data.
