Apple is reportedly working on touches gesture screens that curve, which will be different than all other smartphones in the mobile phone market.

The report specifically cites that Apple is testing an iPhone display capable of detecting gestures from finger movements without actually touching the display. These panels will curve inward gradually from top to bottom, and not down at the edges like Samsung's recent flagships.

OLED, or organic light emitting diode, displays can be shaped into curves or even folded, unlike the less-flexible LCD screen technology used in prior iPhones.

The iPhone X, which was released previous year.

Apple releases new versions of iPhones every year, topping themselves each time with the innovations introduced in the newer models. It is rumored to be working on iPhones with curved screens and controls that work with just the wag of a finger.

A new Bloomberg report from the often reliable Mark Gurman details two major changes that could be on the horizon for Apple's upcoming smartphone.

An Apple spokesperson has declined to comment on the leaked information regarding Apple's two new projects. This new feature would work by detecting the user's proximity to the screen to determine what the person is trying to do. Both are said to be in the early stages of research and development which suggests that they may not arrive for at least a couple of years.

Gurman, who's renowned for Apple scoops, compared the touchless control feature to Samsung's Air Gestures function for Android - which lets users answer calls and browse web pages by waving their hand across their handset. But one of the sources who spoke with Bloomberg said that Apple's implementation will rely on technology built directly into the screen, rather than a motion sensor in the bezel as Air Gestures does.
