France is urging Russian Federation to join a push for a political solution in Syria after joint US, French and British attacks on Syrian chemical weapons sites.

And the United States called for a clear condemnation by the OPCW of "the Syrian government for its reign of chemical terror".

The Labour leader said chlorine has been used by "a number of parties in the conflict" in Syria as a weapon and questioned the legality of the airstrikes.

Russian Federation and Iran have called the action a "military crime" and "act of aggression". On Saturday, the Russian government went so far as to introduce a United Nations resolution that condemned coalition forces for launching the joint airstrike.

Mr Putin stressed "it will inevitably entail chaos in global relations" if violations of the United Nations charter continue.

Iran and Russian Federation should not allow the "fire of a new tension" to flare up in the region, Rouhani said, adding that the airstrikes were an "invasion" aimed at "emboldening defeated terrorists", IRNA reported.

Mara Karlin, a former senior Pentagon official, said: "Let's not kid ourselves, Mr Assad has no shortage of tools in his destructive and deadly arsenal".

"We all know our work in Syria is not done", she said.

She added: "I think that Parliament should have been recalled before the strike".

"Seventy-five people, including young children, were killed in a horrific chemical attack", said May, calling the attack "a stain on our humanity".

Haley told Fox News, "If Assad doesn't get it" after Saturday's barrage of 105 missiles fired by the U.S., Britain and France at three Syrian chemical weapons facilities, "it's going to hurt". When pressed, however, he acknowledged that some unspecified portion of Assad's chemical arms infrastructure was not targeted.

The Pentagon said Saturday the US -led allied missile strikes in Syria successfully hit all three targets and have "significantly crippled" Syrian President Bashar Assad's ability to make more chemical weapons. The U.S. says it suspects that sarin gas also was used.

The airstrike was triggered following reports of an alleged chemical attack by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad that left 40 people dead in the town of Douma, outside the capital city of Damascus.

British foreign minister Boris Johnson on Sunday said the Syrian war must be allowed to "proceed as it will", after unprecedented Western strikes against the country's alleged chemical weapons facilities. It later deployed another 5,000 security forces there.

In the Fox interview, Haley said that "Assad knew that Russian Federation had its back", adding that the Syrian leader "got reckless" in the suspected chemical attack last week in the Damascus suburb of Duma.

Speaking to the BBC, Johnson said what he described as the successful strikes on three sites in Syria were a message from the world that enough was enough, but acknowledged he could not say whether Assad still had chemical weapons.

"It was retaliation, not an act of war", Macron said on French TV channel BMF and online investigative site Mediapart.

Trump, she said, has "talked to our allies and said they need to step up more".

Meanwhile, France urged Russian Federation to join political talks on solutions in Syria.

Then he pushed the US military back into the quagmire. Russian Federation has pursued a separate track for political negotiations, hosting talks in Sochi.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Twitter, "The Syrian raid was so perfectly carried out, with such precision, that the only way the Fake News Media could demean was by my use of the term 'Mission Accomplished.' I knew they would seize on this but felt it is such a great Military term, it should be brought back".
