  • Trump on firing Mueller: 'We'll see what happens'

Trump's attorney, Michael Cohen-whose office and residence were raided on Monday-"solicited the payment", the New York Times reports.

Minutes later he publicly unleashed his sharpest invective to date against the sweeping investigation, calling the Monday search "a disgrace".

On Monday, investigators working for the USA attorney's office at the Southern District of NY raided Cohen's offices in NY after obtaining a search warrant, and seized records on various topics, such as the $130,000 nondisclosure payment Cohen made the adult-film actress, Stormy Daniels, shortly before the 2016 U.S. presidential election. "Republicans and Democrats need to make clear that they will not allow President Trump or anyone on his behalf to interfere with or attempt to impede any of these ongoing and serious investigations".

The president is criticizing the federal raid of the offices of his personal attorney, Michael Cohen.

Hours after the raid, Trump raged: 'They raid an office of a personal attorney early in the morning and I think it's a disgrace'.

Trump has repeatedly stated he wouldn't have appointed Sessions if he knew he wouldn't oversee the Russian Federation investigation and has routinely said the action directly led Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to appoint a special counsel. The White House has consistently said Trump denies the affair.

With the New York Times reporting that the Federal Bureau of Investigation seized records related to the hush payment made to Stormy Daniels and other topics and that the feds obtained the search warrant following a referral from Mueller, Hannity brushed off the $130,000 paid to Daniels.

Investigators from the USA attorney's office at the Southern District of NY reportedly raided Cohen's offices after receiving a tip from the special counsel Robert Mueller's team.

The raid on Cohen's office was done by the U.S. Attorney's office in Manhattan and was based at least partly on a referral from special counsel Robert Mueller, according to Cohen's lawyer, Stephen Ryan.

The big picture: This is a consistent response from Trump, who has accused the probe of unfairly targeting him and who has lashed out against his attorney general for failing to restrain its spread.

Trump also went after Attorney General Jeff Sessions - whose decision to recuse himself set in motion events that led to the appointment of Mueller by deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein, who is revealed to have permitted the raid after hearing from Mueller. "He certainly should have let us know if he was going to recuse himself, and we would have put a different attorney general in", the president said.

The $130,000 payment, of which Trump says he was unaware, came weeks before the 2016 presidential election.

"We are a nation of laws", said Cicilline, in a news release.

South Carolina Republican Sen.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) issued a stark warning to Trump in a series of tweets late Monday.

The special counsel Robert Mueller is looking into a large donation a pro-Russian Ukrainian oligarch made to the Trump Foundation in September 2015 after then-candidate Donald Trump gave a video talk at a conference in Kiev, Ukraine, The New York Times reported.
