Governor REFUSES to Send National Guard to Border — WEST COAST CHAOS

  • National Guard troops headed for border Friday night

President Donald Trump on Wednesday said the situation at the U.S. -Mexico border had reached "a point of crisis" in his proclamation directing National Guard deployment to the border.

She said full details of the National Guard plan wouldn't be disclosed yet "because much of what we will be doing in conjunction with the border state governors will be worked out through the appropriate processes, as it has been in the past".

Trump's order invoked a federal law called Title 32, under which governors retain command and control of Guard members from their state, with the federal government paying for the deployment.

Oregon Governor Kate Brown attends the Pendleton Round-Up on September 15, 2017 in Pendleton, Oregon.

"There's been no outreach by the President or federal officials, and I have no intention of allowing Oregon's guard troops to be used to distract from his troubles in Washington", she added.

Speaking to radio host John Batchelor on April 5, Sebastian Gorka, a Fox News analyst and former Trump deputy assistant, said there are numerous precedents for deploying troops to the border.

"We'd like to stop it before the numbers get even bigger", she said.

"I think that we should keep our focus on our children here in America and focus on the fact that they need protection, possibly sending our troops and/or retired servicemen to protect our children in our schools", Matte said.

It is not the firm time troops have been sent to the US' southern border. Abbott and Ducey are Republicans, as is the governor of New Mexico, Susana Martinez, who, without giving figures yet, has shown her support for the deployment. Jerry Brown (D) on Thursday in hopes of getting his support.

Mr. Hernandez has been the first American civilian to be killed by active duty military troops since the Kent State massacre in 1970, and the incident led the Clinton administration to suspend troop patrols near the border.

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) said Thursday that the California governor, who has previously accused the Trump administration of "basically going to war" with his state over immigration policy, could say no to the deployment request.

"We will answer the call", Burgum said. "We should have those laws", the President had said.

He said in the memorandum that "the security of the United States is imperiled by a drastic surge of illegal activity on the southern border".

And North Carolina National Guard Adj. Gen. Gregory Lusk said: "At this time, there have not been any requests for NC National Guardsmen deploying to the southern border of the U.S.".

The Pentagon authorized the use of 4,000 soldiers of the National Guard, although it has not specified how many have been deployed so far or where.

Brown acknowledged that the Trump White House had not contacted her to ask her to mobilize Oregon's troops, and that her declaration was largely preemptive. Of course, what those troops can do is very limited by the Posse Comitatus Act, which forbids the use of military forces for domestic law enforcement.

The National Guard is made up of citizens who generally hold civilian jobs as well and report for duty when needed to respond to natural disasters and other emergencies, and are sometimes deployed on military operations overseas.
