  • BREAKING Inspector General Report Torches Andrew Mc Cabe For Being a Serial Liar

It says McCabe "lacked candour" in conversations with Comey, who was then FBI director, and other officials about his role in providing information to the reporter on an investigation into the Clinton Foundation.

Trump wrote on Twitter on Friday, calling the report a "total disaster" for McCabe.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy said in a statement that "this report continues to call into question decisions made by Federal Bureau of Investigation leadership in 2016 and 2017".

"No collusion, all made up by this den of thieves and lowlifes", the president said. The report also concluded that McCabe was not upfront with investigators about the matter, including on three occasions when he was under oath. Trump tweeted, referencing ex-FBI Director James Comey. The office had previously said the report would be released in April.

According to the New York Times, McCabe allegedly "lied" to DOJ officials when asked whether he had ordered subordinates to purposely leak classified information to the press ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

"The core weakness of the OIG report is the lack of any understandable motive for his alleged wrongdoing", said the statement in part. McCabe had already alleged that his firing was politically motivated, as the president had made clear he disliked McCabe long before the FBI's former No. 2 official was sacked.

The 35-page inspector general report goes into detail in arguing McCabe intentionally misled internal FBI and inspector general investigators about whether he had authorized the disclosure of an August 2016 phone conversation regarding the FBI's Clinton Foundation investigation to The Wall Street Journal.

Michael Bromwich, who served as Justice Department inspector general under former President Bill Clinton, and who is now representing McCabe, responded in a tweet to Trump, "Thank you for providing even more material for the defamation suit we are actively considering filing against you and your colleagues". During that interview, McCabe again said he didn't authorize the disclosure and didn't know who did. "House Republicans will nearly certainly try to use this report to fuel their efforts to distract from the abuses of power by this Administration and to undermine the Department of Justice".

Comey said he told McCabe he was upset about the story, which he thought improperly confirmed the investigation and was likely to increase friction between the Justice Department and FBI.

In addition to addressing whether McCabe lacked candor, the OIG's misconduct investigation addressed whether any FBI or Department of Justice policies were violated in disclosing non-public FBI information to the WSJ.

McCabe contacted the NY official again on November 4 following the publication of another Wall Street Journal article that referred to the information McCabe had leaked. McCabe told the official to "get his house in order".
